The added value of certifications for a company

The added value of certifications for a company

In today's market, trust in companies depends on their ability to guarantee quality and safety in their products and internal processes. In the home protection and defence sector, the consumer turns to the installer, who, in turn, relies on the solutions of his preferred technology supplier.  This ‘cascading’ trust is indispensable, and concerns any area where advanced technologies are applied in specific products. But on what concrete elements is it based?

Certainly, the proven reliability of a supplier's solutions over time counts for a lot. But it matters just as much, if not more, that they are certified according to international standards. Compliance with these standards, ratified by independent third parties, is proof that the technology supplier follows - by designing, manufacturing and operating its products - ‘state-of-the-art’ processes. And that its solutions are therefore reliable: in essence, they deliver what they promise.

International Standards

The adoption of major international quality standards is an essential step for companies, regardless of the sector in which they operate. Complying with standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 ensures quality standards in process management, thus increasing product reliability, and also reinforces the trust of customers and business partners - installers first and foremost. And, a detail not to be overlooked, it guarantees a competitive advantage in a market such as the security and electrical installation market, which is increasingly demanding and crowded.

ISO 9001

ISO 9001, the international standard for quality management, to which Urmet has been certified since 1995, indicates how to implement an effective quality management system based on fundamental principles such as the process approach and continuous improvement. In the security field, this translates into the ability to develop reliable, high-performance solutions that comply with regulations at all times. Above all, because ISO 9001 requires a thorough analysis of internal procedures, the definition of performance indicators and constant monitoring of results. With the aim of guaranteeing a high quality end product, to the maximum satisfaction of all those involved in its production and use.

ISO 27001

The ISO 27001 certification, which Urmet achieved more recently, covers the management of corporate information and customer data. This is a very important standard in this day and age, where data and information are a valuable asset, because it shows how to ensure that critical data is protected from internal and external threats. If we think about the consequences that the misuse or loss of stored data can have, in terms of both financial damage and loss of reputation, for a company working in the security field, we realise the value of ISO 27001 certification. It represents an important safeguard for customers and partners: it ensures that Urmet has implemented rigorous controls to prevent unauthorised access to managed information, to protect data stored in its systems, and to guarantee the confidentiality of sensitive information. Adhering to quality standards is not a ‘one-off’ commitment, rather it represents an important evolution of the entire corporate strategy. ISO 9001 certification, for example, brings in a quality culture that involves all levels of the organisation. Similarly, compliance with ISO 27001 requires continuous monitoring of information security threats, with the adoption of specific policies and procedures for risk management. This is how it becomes possible to always give customers and partners what they expect, and more, in an industry where product reliability is an unquestionable requirement.

It should also not be forgotten that ISO 9001 and 27001 certifications are often a prerequisite for participating in public tenders, obtaining strategic supplies with large customers, and distinguishing oneself from competitors in areas that are more attentive to the quality of security solutions and data protection, such as the banking and industrial sectors. Certifications are therefore an important value for the market and for end customers, an added value that installers of Urmet solutions can also count on.
