Sustainability
Without respect for the planet, its resources and future generations, it is impossible to imagine a sustainable future. In this scenario, Urmet also feels called to do its part and adopt responsible and sustainable corporate behaviors.
The PEP (Product Environmental Profile) Ecopassport is considered the international reference program for environmental declarations of products in the electrical, electronic and heating and cooling industries.PEP is a declaration that meets the requirements of the ISO 14025 standard and is based on the LCA life cycle assessment, which quantifies the related environmental impacts.Urmet has currently obtained PEP recognition for articles 1760/5, 1760/6 and 1761/6 of the VOG5 range.
The widespread adoption of solar panels contributes not only to reducing dependence on traditional energy sources, but also to mitigating the effects of climate change, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable development. Urmet has long made a choice in this direction, equipping its Italian headquarters in Turin with 2,700 photovoltaic panels covering offices and warehouses. In one year, the headquarters self-consumed 340,000 kWh of the 876,000 kWh produced by proprietary photovoltaic systems, avoiding the release of about 136,000 kg (a good 136 tons) of CO₂ into the air.
Urmet has made a significant reduction in the volume of paper on its product accompanying documentation: a new concept for instruction booklets has been developed that allows for a significant reduction in the volume of paper inside the product accompanying booklets, greatly reducing the environmental impact. The use of recycled paper brings benefits in terms of:
